RUBY S. VOLIVA 1912 2010
Ruby Spencer Voliva, 98, formerly of 365 Levels Road and more recently a resident of Britthaven of Edenton, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Britthaven.
Born in Tyrrell County, July 19, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Maggie Smith Spencer. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Voliva. She was recognized as Outstanding Homemaker by Tyrrell County Extension and Homemakers Association and was a member of Sandy Acres Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday in the chapel of Bryan Funeral Service in Columbia. Rev. Joe Wynns will officiate and burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens at a later time.
Surviving are a son, Bobby L. Voliva and wife, Frances of Columbia; a daughter, Effie V. Fleming of Columbia; five grandchildren, Robert Lee Voliva, Elizabeth DeeFurlough, James W. Fleming, Wilbert H. Fleming and Robin Joel Fleming; seven great-grandchildren, Rachel Furlough, Tyler Fleming, Codi Fleming and Bryan Fleming, Elisabeth Cook, Joel Fleming and Sarah Fleming; five great-great grandchildren, Tucker Hall Fleming, Brody William Fleming, Marissa Ruby Voliva, Sara Evangeline Cook, Isaiah Zekarias Fleming.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Mack Spencer, William John Spencer, Julian McKinley Spencer, Columbus Joseph Spencer, Cecil Ruffin Spencer, Hubert Leland Spencer, Rudolph Edison Spencer and Thomas Roland Spencer and sisters, Janie Elizabeth Spencer and Maybelle Armstrong.
The family will visit with friends during the hour prior to the funeral on Thursday.
