W. ALTON AINSLEY
1927 – 2012
William Alton Ainsley, 84, of 2475 Newlands Road, Columbia, died at his home on Monday morning, January 9, 2012.
Born in Tyrrell County, March 6, 1927, he was the son of the late Kelly Alton and Hopsa Basnight Ainsley. He was married to Rosa Lee Barnes Ainsley who survives.
Mr. Ainsley was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served in World War II, engaged in farming through his working years and was a member of Cabin Swamp Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Cabin Swamp Church of Christ. Thomas Biggs, David Brothers and Ray Luyk will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Glenn A. Ainsley of Greenville, Bill A. Ainsley of Des Moines, Iowa and Bryan D. Ainsley of Columbia; three daughters, Bonnie A. Hunt and husband, Wayne of Boaz, Alabama, Connie A. Davis and husband, Duane of Cincinnati, Ohio and Dana A. Elliott and husband, Joey of Columbia; a sister, Cora A. Gallop and husband, Pernell of Columbia; grandchildren, Jason Ainsley, Ryan Ainsley, Kevin Ainsley, Joshua Ainsley,, Hannah Ainsley, Kelly Weatherly, Lindsay Salee, Ben Davis, Joshua Davis, Joy Davis, Nathan Ainsley, Austin Ainsley, Devin Elliott, Cameron Elliott, Ashlin Elliott; ten great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to Cabin Swamp Church of Christ, P. O. Box 269, Columbia, N. C.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, 6 to 8 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia Chapel and other times at the home.
