Dorothy Elizabeth Sawyer Equils, 83, of Washington died, Sunday, December 1, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Equils was born in Hyde County on November 4, 1936, to the late Richard Bernard and Alice Sawyer. She was married to William Medford Equils who survives.
She was a homemaker and a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, doing crafts, ceramics, and watching QVC. She was known for her delicious cooking, especially her spaghetti.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at the family plot in Soule Cemetery. Linwood Adams will officiate.
In addition to her husband, surviving is a daughter, Debbie Sawyer (Jerry); a son Barry Equils, (Lou); three grandchildren, Ashley Crouse (Daniel), Savannah Equils, Tanner Equils; two great-grandchildren, Noah Cutrell and Brynn E. Crouse; a sister, Edith Fay Gibbs (David); a half-brother Richard Sawyer; and a niece, Audrey Lumsden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepfather Ellis Sadler.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter.
