Essie P. Webster
May 12, 1919 – January 6, 2020
Essie Alene Pugh McAllister Webster, 100, of the Gull Rock Community and most recently a resident of Cross Creek Health Care Center, died, Monday, January 6, 2020.
Essie was born in Hyde County, May 12, 1919 to the late Joseph Madison and Amanda Payne Pugh. She was married to Robert McAllister who preceded her in death and later married John Webster who also preceded her in death.
She was a member of Free Union Free Will Baptist Church.
She served her country as a medical corpsman with the United States Army.
Essie worked as waitress for the Fearing Café in Manteo and later as a nurse aide for the former Tayloe Hospital in Washington and the Broward County Hospital in Fort Lauderdele, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the family plot in the Pugh Family Cemetery. Jerald Craddock will officiate.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl Pugh, Leonard Pugh, Carl Pugh, James Pugh and Joseph Pugh; and one sister, Irene P. Sadler.
