John L. Swindell

John Loy Swindell, 90, of Washington passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018, at Ridgewood Manor Rehabilitation and Living Center, Washington.
He was born January 20, 1928, to Cecil and Nina Caffee Swindell of the New Holland Community in Hyde County.
John retired from Civil Service after twenty-one years of service.
He attended Engelhard School until his junior year, later he decided to attend the Swan Quarter High School where he graduated in 1946.
He attended 15th Street Church of God in Washington. He loved his church dearly where he enjoyed being an usher as well as other things.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 10, 2018, at Soule United Methodist Church. Pastor Jerald Craddock and Steve Bryan will officiate. Burial will follow at the family plot in Soule Cemetery.
Surviving are two sisters, Nan S. Parks of Virginia, Evelyn Sadler of Manteo; a brother, Jesse Swindell of Dudley and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by two sisters; Celia Gray Swindell, Kathryn S. Cahoon and three brothers, Kenneth Swindell, Thomas Swindell, and George Caffe Swindell.
