Rev. G.C. Richards
July 28, 1940 – December 3, 2019

Rev. G.C. Richards, Jr., 79 of Plymouth, went to his heavenly home, December 3, 2019 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice, Greenville, NC.

Born in Washington County, July 28, 1940, he was the son of the late G.C. “Mutt” Richards, Sr. and Mary Hooker Richards.  He was married to Charlene A. Richards who survives.

He was a member of the Plymouth Church of Christ and a member of the Eastern North Carolina Men’s Association.

G.C. graduated from Roanoke Bible College (now Mid-Atlantic Christian University) with a Preaching degree in 1963. During his lifetime, he ministered at Elizabeth Heights Church of Christ, Elizabethtown, NC; Cedar Grove Christian Church, Inwood, WV; Galilee Christian Church, Clearbrook, VA; College Park (formerly Paper Mill Road) Church of Christ, Winchester, VA; Guyandotte Church of Christ, Huntington, WV; Great Bridge Church of Christ, Chesapeake, VA; Ocean View Church of Christ, Norfolk, VA; Interim (3 month) Plymouth Church of Christ, Plymouth, NC and Eunice Chapel Church of Christ, Scranton, NC.

He loved woodworking, hunting, fishing and anything related to ducks.  He loved singing and listening to Gospel Music. 

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Plymouth Church of Christ, Plymouth, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Steven N. Richards (Carrie) of Barboursville, VA, and Edward A. Hancuff of Montgomery, AL; three daughters, Malissa “Missy” R. Moore (Roger) of Clemmons, NC; Sherry Hancuff of Garner; and Wendy Hancuff of Fayetteville; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; one brother, Frank G. Richards (Patrice) of Va. Beach, VA, and one sister, Darlene ”Dee”  R. Shannonhouse (Bill) of Midlothian, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mid-Atlantic Christian University, 715 N. Poindexter Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
