DENNIS R. TAYLOR
June 2, 1951 – July 24 2016

Dennis "Denny" Ray Taylor, 65, of 3490 Soundside Road, Columbia, died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville after a long illness.

Born in Tyrrell County, June 2, 1951, he was the son of the late Betty Taylor and was reared by his grandparents, the late James and Cora Taylor. He was married to the former Kathy Rhodes who survives. Denny was a carpenter in various forms of construction and was known as a "jack of all trades". He was a member of Soundside Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Soundside Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph Wynns and Rev. Timothy Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his step-father, Walter Davenport of Columbia; a son, Brandon Taylor and his wife, Krystal of Roper; a step-daughter, Heather Roughton of Greenville; three brothers, Mike Johnson, Ricky VanHorn and wife, Dawn and Walter Davenport, Jr. all of Columbia; three sisters, Renay Smith and husband, Mike of Zebulon, Tonya Davenport of Columbia and Melanie Gibbs of Virginia; three grandchildren, Brandon Taylor, Jr., Raelynn Taylor and Cora Lee Taylor.

Denny was preceded in death by a brother, Lance VanHorn who was the husband of Corey and father of Maddy, and they survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be directed to Denny Taylor Memorial, P. O. Box 17, Columbia NC 27925 to share with funeral services.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia Chapel.
