Lessie M. Cuthrell
October 5, 1928 – July 7, 2016

Lessie Mason Cuthrell, 87 of 28100 US Highway 264, Engelhard, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday July 7, 2016.

Born in Hyde County, October 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Christopher Roscoe Mason and Minnie Wallace Mason. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Sam Long Cuthrell.

She was a devoted wife and loving mother, a woman of strong faith and was the rock of her family.

For many years she was a member of Gulrock United Methodist Women's Society, The Order of the Eastern Star, former Hyde County Chapter and a member of Watson's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday July 9, 2016 in Soule Cemetery. Pastor Jerald Craddock will officiate.

Surviving, are four children, Diane C. Brauer and husband Julius of Washington, Rita C. Berry of Manteo, Rusty Cuthrell of Cary, Angela C. Miller and husband Kevin of Engelhard. Six grandchildren, Samuel Brauer, Eric Brauer, Andrew Berry, Stephen Berry, Rodney Allen Berry, Jr. and Brice Marshall; eight great grandchildren, Mary Brauer, Emily Brauer, Justin Brauer, Mason Berry, Paige Berry, Dylan Berry, Luke Berry and Haleigh Marshall.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred M. Gibbs; two brothers, Robert Edward Mason and infant, Marion Roscoe Mason.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the family home in Engelhard.
