Sara Jane Selby, 79, of Columbia, died, Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at her residence, surrounded by her sister and friends.

Born in Tyrrell County, May 16, 1938, she was the daughter of the late James Donald and Vivian Godwin Selby. She was a member of the Columbia Missionary Baptist Church.

She worked for the former Norfolk General Hospital and later for the City of Norfolk as a Medicare Supervisor. She loved to play cards and entertain others with her cakes and pies.

Surviving is a sister, Ruth S. Northern of Columbia.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Lory Franklin Selby.

Per her request, no services will be scheduled.
