ALEASE B. ROUGHTON
October 14, 1930 – November 1, 2017

Alease Brickhouse Roughton, 87, of 4640 Soundside Road, Columbia, died early Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Washington County Hospital, Plymouth after a long illness.

Born in Tyrrell County, October 14, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Walter Seldon and Mary Rhodes Brickhouse. She was married to Junious Lee Roughton who preceded her in death. She previously worked in the textiles industry as a shipping clerk and was a member of Soundside Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in Soundside Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Stephen Duncan, Pastor and Rev. Joseph Wynns will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are a son, Mark A. Roughton of Columbia; two daughters, Maxine R. Barbour and husband, Bill of Talking Rock, Georgia and Julie R. Hollowell and husband, Alvin of Edenton; eleven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a twin brother and a sister at birth, as well as a daughter, Kathy R. Spencer.

The family will receive friends at Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia Chapel on Friday between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
