ALLEN F. GIBBS
March 14, 1937 – February 12, 2017

Allen Forrest Gibbs, 79, of 739 Swamp Road, Engelhard, died Sunday afternoon, February 12, 2017, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

Born in Hyde County, March 14, 1937, he was the son of the late Cecil Bruce and Zuma Nixon Gibbs. He was married to Dorothy Elizabeth Barber Gibbs who preceded him in death. Allen was a member of Engelhard Christian Church and spent his working years farming.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Engelhard Christian Church. Pastor Scott Sukeforth will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Cemetery.

Surviving are three sons, Douglas A. Gibbs and Michael Forrest Gibbs and wife, Cynthia of Engelhard and Todd B. Gibbs and wife, Rebecca of Youngsville; two daughters, Vicki J. Gibbs and Lori Ann Gibbs both of Engelhard; a brother, Donnie Gibbs of Engelhard; eight grandchildren, Eli Heath, Briana Heath, Michael Allen Gibbs and wife, Leslie, Michael Meekins and wife, Taren, Adria C. Gibbs and husband, Marcus, Bryson Cahoon, Kayla Ponziano and Ava Ponziano; seven great-grandchildren, Hampton Gibbs, Carter Gibbs, Hannah Meekins, Rachel Meekins, Skylar Gibbs, Rilee Gibbs and Charlotte Gibbs.

Allen Forrest was also preceded in death by a brother, Agatha Gibbs.

Memorials are suggested to the Engelhard Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 296, Engelhard NC 27824.

The family will receive friends at the church following the funeral service on Wednesday.
Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter.
