Averi E. Simmons
November 14, 1985 – September 25, 2025

Averi Elizabeth Simmons, 39, formerly of Fairfield and most recently of Greenville, died unexpectantly, Thursday, September 25, 2025.

Averi was born in Beaufort County on November 14, 1985, to Joseph L. "Joey" Simmons, IV, and Mary Katherine Bright Simmons, who preceded her in death.

Averi was a graduate of Mattamuskeet High School, where she was the class president and the social butterfly of her class. She never met a stranger and carried that into her work as a tax, tag and loan specialist at Discount Auto, Inc. She was a lover of all thing's beauty, especially makeup and hair, and was always there to help others feel beautiful. Her love of life and her selfless generosity made everyone around her feel loved and important. She will be deeply missed by everyone who was blessed to know her.

A graveside service will be held at Mt. Olive Church of Christ Church Cemetery on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Raffael Farrow, Jr., will officiate.

Surviving in addition to her father is a brother, Joseph L. "Jay "Simmons, V, of Greenville; maternal grandmother, Lenora "Nonie" Raburn Bright; paternal grandmother, Audrey Fisher Simmons; three aunts, Debbie Webb of Knightdale, Beverly B. Meekins (Michael) of Engelhard, Pamela S. Cahoon (Guire) of Swan Quarter and one uncle, Donald Glenn Simmons (Kim) of Engelhard.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John L. Bright, and her paternal grandfather, Joseph L. Simmons, III.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
