C. Edwin Berry
December 19, 1944 – August 9, 2016

Edwin Berry, 71, of Engelhard died, Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at his residence.

Born in Hyde County, December 19, 1944, he was the son of the late Carlton Lucas and Marie Swindell Berry. He was a member of the Engelhard Christian Church.

He was a 1963 graduate of East Hyde High School and he was part of the 1965 graduating class of Pitt Technical Institute, receiving a degree in Auto Mechanics. He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict with the United States Army and he was a former fire chief with the Engelhard Volunteer Fire Department.

After several years in the United States Army he returned home, to work in agriculture, especially to take care of his garden and as a mowing contractor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the family plot in Fulford Cemetery. Steve Bryan will officiate.

Surviving is a daughter, Tracy Berry Lewis and husband Austin of Engelhard, a sister in law, Mrs. Priscilla Mooney Berry of Engelhard; four grandchildren, Ray Lewis, Alex Lewis, Taylor Lewis and Jacob Lewis and wife Crystal of Engelhard; two great grandchildren, Ella Lewis and Brantley Lewis; two nieces, Cindy B. Mason and husband David, Jr., Tina B. Basnight and husband Eddie both of Swan Quarter; a nephew, Rick Berry and wife Chelsey of Pantego; one great nephew, Timothy Mason and a great niece Laura Basnight both of Swan Quarter

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Larry Berry.

The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home place on 33095 US Highway 264, Engelhard.
