Colden "Meatball" L. Bowden, Jr.
May 7, 1944 – August 22, 2017

Colden "Meatball" Lee Bowden, Jr., 73, of Engelhard, died peacefully, Tuesday August 22, 2017 at his residence.

Born in Hyde County, May 7, 1944, he was the son of the late Colden Lee, Sr. and Lovie Mae Howard Bowden. He was affectionately known as "Meatball". He spent most of his working years as a heavy equipment operator in the logging industry.

Daddy was a man of words
Some would make you laugh
Some would make you hurt.
Everyone knew him as Meatball
The man who had no rhythm at all
The man who loved his motorcycles and lived life fast
And would tell you that nothing in life will last
Even though he is no longer on this physical plane
Through all the memories and his legacy it will help ease the pain
My father, My brother, My Uncle, My friend
From this day things will never be the same
He is my dad and I'm proud to carry his name.

Surviving are six sons; Colden Collins and wife Lamesha of Kondo, OH, Albonte Collins of New Jersey, Oliver Gibbs and wife Geraldine of Delaware, Shan Collins and wife, Felicia of Greenville, Laquan Collins of Greenville and Steve Midgette and wife Tamula of Greenville; four daughters, Lovinna Sykes and husband, Corey of Columbia, Katrina Selby and husband, Maurice of Engelhard, Colleen Bowden of Engelhard and Shennice Strubbing Ming of Marianna, FL; a sister, Katrina Bowden of Wilmington and a host of grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Bowden, L. Mae Bowden and a brother, George Bowden.

Per his request, no funeral services are scheduled at this time.
