Deloris A. Midgette-Gibbs
January 31, 1945 – June 20, 2017

Deloris A. Midgette-Gibbs, 72, of 81 Lakeview, Engelhard, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 20, 2017 at her residence.

Born in Newport News, VA, January 31, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Bennie, Jr. and Meta Pearl Burrus Brown. She was a member of Faithful Hannah Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a recording secretary. She was a silver member of the NAACP, past member of the Greater Hyde County Chamber of Commerce, member of Davis High Ventures Cultural Center and she served on the board of the former Hyde County Community Development Corporation. Dee spent thirty years as a personnel assistant with the United States Department of Agriculture.

She was married to Leamon Gibbs, Jr. who preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Davis Ventures Center, Engelhard. Pastor Larry Shelton and Elder Troy Ransom will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the Ada Brown Cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Davis Venture Center.
Surviving is a son Aaron L. Midgette of Brooklyn, NY; a daughter, Nicole V. Midgette of Germantown, MD; a sister; Gloria Brown of Brooklyn, NY, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Earl Bryant and Larry Donnell Bryant.
