DOUGLAS M. BUTT
January 6, 1930 – April 8, 2016

Douglas Monroe Butt, 86, of 6810 N. C. Highway 94, Fairfield, died Friday night, April 8, 2016, at Cross Creek Health Care Center in Swan Quarter where he had recently been as a patient.

Born in Peru, Indiana, January 6, 1930, he was the son of the late Floyd and Mable Foust Butt. He was first married to late Doris Wilson Butt who was the mother of his children and later married Elizabeth Basnight Butt who preceded him in death.

Doug was a long time member of the Swan Quarter Lions Club, the Soule United Methodist Church and was recognized with his 60 year plaque by the Peru-Miami Lodge # 67 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.

A funeral is planned for 11:00 a.m. Monday at the family plot at Soule Cemetery. Rev. Jerald Craddock will officiate followed by Masonic Graveside services. The family will visit with friends following the service.

Surviving are three sons, Floyd B. Butt II and wife, Barbara of Fairfield, John Butt and wife, Marcy of Mesa, AZ and David Butt and wife, Tammy of Charlotte; three daughters, Marilynne Durrett-Johnson of Columbus OH, Rebecca Jenkins and husband, Kenny of Hayes VA and Josie DiCesare and husband, Leon of Greenville NC; 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Alice Rebecca Roberson, Dorothy Bullock, Harriett Dice and Cleo Dunscomb; a great-grandson, Isaiah Durrett; a step-son, William Ed Basnight.

The family is meeting at the home of Floyd and Barbara Butt in Fairfield.

Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter.
