Douglas W. Smith
October 27, 1951 – March 14, 2024

Douglas Wayne Smith, 72, of Plymouth, moved to Heaven on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Emporia Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Emporia, Virginia, following a difficult battle of Lewy Body dementia with Parkinsonism.

Born in Norfolk, Virginia on October 27, 1951, to the late Claude W. Smith and Alice Hodges Smith who survives. He was married to Virginia "Jenny" Jernigan Smith who also survives.

Mr. Smith honorably served his country during the Vietnam Era while enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. His professional career was devoted to sales in the Collision repair industry.

"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth…that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them." (Rev. 14:13)

A memorial service will be held at Edenton United Methodist Church, Virginia Rd. Edenton, NC on April 27th at 1 pm, with military honors. Pastor Alan Young of Raleigh will officiate.

In addition to his mother and wife, surviving is a daughter, Sarah S. Jarvis (Styron) of Plymouth; a brother, Kevin Smith (Lorrie) of Newport News, VA; three sisters, Debbie S. Kitchen of Newport News, Va, Jeannette S. Tomascik of Howard, Ga, Pamela Smith of Lee's Summit, MO and several nieces and nephews.
