EXIE H. RHEM
September 3, 1921 – July 11, 2017

Exie Pearl Hodges Rhem, 95, of Loxley Road, Portsmouth VA and a native of Hyde County, North Carolina, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Portsmouth Health and Rehabilitation Center in Portsmouth, VA.

Born in Hyde County, N. C. on September 3, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Dickie and Lavinia Sadler Hodges. She was married to Ray Rhem who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Rhem was a retired seamstress and worked in a department store for years. She was a member of West Park Church of Christ and traveled to visit in Hyde County for many years as she maintained her friendships.

A funeral will be held at the family plot in Mount Olive Church of Christ Cemetery in the Ponzer Community of Hyde County on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Keith Lewis will officiate.

Surviving are a son, Nickey R. Rhem and wife, Alice T. of Virginia Beach VA; grandchildren, Kimberly R. Desocio and David Rhem; six great-grandchildren, Connor Rhem, Kaitland Rhem, Caroline Rhem, Hallie Desocio, Zachary Desocio and Anthony Desocio; step-grandchildren include Patrick Touhey and Michael Touhey; step-great-grandchild, Skyla Touhey.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Perry Hodges, Bernice Hodges, Leone Rhem, Evelyn Hoskins.
