FRANCES B. ROUGHTON
November 22, 1942 – August 31, 2016

Mary Frances Brickhouse Roughton, 73, of 5996 Soundside Road, Columbia, died Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Vidant Chowan Hospital in Edenton.

Born in Tyrrell County, November 22, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Maryland Garfield and Viola Patrick Brickhouse. She was married to Wayne Morris Roughton who survives. Frances was a member of Soundside Free Will Baptist Church and worked with the Tyrrell County Health Department as a secretary for 25 years prior to her retirement. She was a dedicated homemaker and was active in outreach in various ways in the area.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Soundside Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Royce Reynolds will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Shannon Garfield Roughton and wife, Jaime Lynn of Sylva, N. C. and Dean Morris Roughton of Elizabeth City N. C.; a daughter, June R. Pierce and husband, Chuck of Edenton; a brother, Patrick Brickhouse and wife Cora of Tennessee; three sisters, Nan B. Liverman and husband, Max and Connie B. Liverman and husband, Howard all of Columbia and Marilyn Ann Bright and husband, Bobby of Pensacola, Florida; five grandchildren, Ginny Pierce, Connor Roughton, Jack Pierce, Paige Roughton and Drake Roughton.

The family suggests that memorials be sent to Soundside Free Will Baptist Church YFA, c/o Kathy B. Cahoon, Treas. P. O. Box 125, Columbia NC 27925.

The family will receive friends at Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia Chapel on Friday evening, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
