GERALDINE R. MORAN
February 28, 1939 – January 29, 2017

Geraldine Roughton Moran, 77, of 239 Rhodes Road, Columbia, died Sunday afternoon, January 29, 2017, at her home.

Born in Tyrrell County, February 28, 1939, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Edria Hassell Roughton. She was married to Joseph Moran who preceded her in death. She was a member of Soundside Free Will Baptist Church and helped her family with fishing and making nets while being a full-time homemaker.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Columbia Chapel of Bryan Funeral Service. Rev. Royce Reynolds and Rev. Joseph Wynns will officiate. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are her partner of 37 years, Terry Reigel; four sons, Randy Moran and wife, Patricia of Edenton, Steve Moran and wife, Lisa of Columbia, Kenny Moran of Columbia and David Moran and wife, Brenda of Columbia; a daughter, Cathy M. Swain of Roper; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Travis Roughton, Obie Roughton and Loretta R. Simmons.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
