Gladford Eray "Ray" Gibbs, Jr.
December 24, 1956 – July 4, 2023

Gladford Eray "Ray" Gibbs, Jr., 66, of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at ECU Health Chowan Hospital.

Ray was born in Tyrrell County on December 24, 1956, to the late Gladford Eray and Violet Mae Gibbs Sr.  He was married to the former Lisa Roughton, who survives.

Ray spent fifteen years working in the agriculture industry. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, and storytelling.  Christmas was his favorite time of the year.  Ray loved his family dearly and enjoyed any time spent with them, especially the time with his grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Andrew Wade Gibbs of Columbia, and Gladford "Buddy" E. Gibbs, III; four grandchildren:  Krysta Ann Gibbs, Kolby Lynn Gibbs, Dakota Ray Gibbs, and Dylan M. Gibbs.; two brothers, Raymond Roy Gibbs (Ava) of Belhaven, and Joseph Franklin Gibbs (Scarlet) of Laurel Hill, NC; three sisters, Caddie Bell Lilley of Bath, Adina Louise Tooler (Virgil) of Washington, and Becky Eden of Gates, NC.
