Glynn W. Brickhouse
October 15, 1934 – March 31, 2023

Glynn Wayne Brickhouse, 88, of Columbia, died, Friday, March 31, 2023, at his residence.

Mr. Glynn was born in Tyrrell County on October 15, 1934, to the late Winford and Madeline Chaplain Brickhouse. He was married to the former Lydia Sawyer for sixty-six years.

He was a member of the Soundside Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent and church deacon for fifty-one years.  He was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1953.

He worked in the automotive industry for sixty-one years as a business owner of a used car dealership. He was a former member of the Tyrrell County Board of Education serving ten years as a member at large and five as board chairman. He enjoyed talking to people and working.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Soundside Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Royce Reynolds will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home.

In addition to his wife surviving is a daughter, Nancie B. Jones (Tom) of Chesapeake, VA; two sons, Bruce Brickhouse, and Bradley Brickhouse both of Columbia; five grandchildren, Brooke Brickhouse, Bradley Wayne Brickhouse, Jr., Tyler Brickhouse, and fiancée, Sara Robb, Mattie Jones, Dorian Jones, and four great-grandchildren, Joslyn Voliva, Avery Voliva, Samuel Roughton, and Paisley Brickhouse.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Brickhouse, and a sister, Ildea Roughton.
