Helen H. Snell
May 2, 1948 – June 20, 2022

Helen Vann Hassell Snell, 74, of Columbia, entered her eternal rest on Monday, June 20, 2022, at her home surrounded by family members.

Helen Snell was born in Hertford County, North Carolina, on May 2, 1948, to the late James Summer and Nettie Rose Vann. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Lawrence Hassell.

She was a member of Sound Side Missionary Baptist Church. She worked as a seamstress for nineteen years.

Helen loved her family, cooking, cleaning, long conversations with friends and caring for her love Mr. Collon.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Bryan Funeral Service Chapel, Jon Langley and Charlie Rice will officiate. Burial will follow at Soundside Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia.

Helen is survived by her husband, Collon Edward Snell, her daughter, Laura H. Barnes (Gerald) of Franklin, VA, a granddaughter, Lauren N. Winborne of Waverly, VA; a grandson, Jeffery Woodard (Brittany) of Tarboro; five great-grandchildren, La Miya Nevaeh Winborne, Mallory Elizabeth Woodard, Braylee Elania Woodard, Hudson Lawrence Woodard and Lawson Joseph Woodard; a step-son, Chris Snell of Columbia, a step-daughter, Barbara S. Krebs (Mitch) of Annapolis, MD, and step-granddaughter, Colette Krebs; two sisters, Frances Conner of Hampstead, NC and Minnie Liverman of Union, NC, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
