Hubert C. Jackson March 23, 1932 – November 20, 2018

Hubert Calvin Jackson, 86, of Plymouth, died, Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Wake Med Health and Hospital, Raleigh.

Born in Tyrrell County, March 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Shadrick and Elsie Colston Jackson. He was first married to Lois Jackson who preceded him in death and later he married the former Doris Gibbs who survives.

He was a member of the Soundside Free Will Baptist Church   He served his country with the United States Coast Guard and later he retired from the North Carolina Ferry Division as a ferry Captain on the Hatteras- Ocracoke Ferry route.

He was a very loving, kind ,compassionate giving father, grandfather, son and friend. He loved the outdoors, fishing and gardening.

Funeral service will be held Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at Bryan Funeral Service Columbia, Chapel. Royce Reynolds will officiate. A private burial will follow immediately after the service.

In addition to his wife surviving are three sons, Kenny Jackson and wife, Angela, Kevin Jackson and wife Rossie both of Buxton, Kurt Jackson of New Bern; three daughters, Barbara Jackson of Frisco, Sondra Grandfield and husband, Jim of Virginia Beach and Nancy Goldman and husband Michael of Belleview, FL; a sister Faye Hassell and husband, J.P. of Currituck and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Shadrick Jackson, Jr. and a sister, Grace J. Covington.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
