James S. "Jimmy" Davenport, Jr.

James Silas "Jimmy" Davenport, Jr., 87, of 1241 Davenport Rd., Columbia, died, Thursday November 24, 2016 at Tyrrell House Assisted Living, Columbia.

Born in Tyrrell County, October 19, 1929 he was the son of the late James Silas and Hilda Rhodes Davenport.

Jimmy had a love for cars, music, riding his bicycle and being outside. He had a natural ability for remembering people and names. He enjoyed collecting hats.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Sunday, November 27, 2016, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Hyung Kim will officiate. Burial will follow at the family plot in Azalea Memorial Gardens, Columbia.

Surviving is a sister, Myrtle D. Mitchell and husband, Robert "Bobby" of Columbia; a nephew, Frederic V. Mitchell, and wife Cynthia of Wilmington; two great nieces, Jamie Mitchell Koch, Courtney Mitchell Sauter and great nephew Federic Vann Mitchell, II.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 502 Main Street, Columbia, NC 27925

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
