JEANETTE S. DEAVER
August 28, 1947 – June 19, 2017

Jeanette "Pobby" Smith Deaver, 69, of 3877 Riverneck Road, Columbia, died early Monday, June 19, 2017, at Vidant Chowan Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Tyrrell County, August 28, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Willie R. and Alice Armstrong Smith. She was the widow of Danny Deaver who preceded her in death. "Pobby" worked for 19 years as a seamstress with the former Flair Manufacturing Company in Columbia and later worked in Home Health for 17 years. More recently she provided cleaning services on the Outer Banks.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Columbia Chapel of Bryan Funeral Service. Steve Bryan will officiate. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are a daughter, Wanda G. Gardner of Columbia; two brothers, Alvin R. Smith and wife, Jackie of the Gum Neck Community and Franklin D. Smith and wife, Dot of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Linda Kay Smith and Connie S. Matthews and husband, Richard of Columbia; a grandson, Channing E. Gardner of Columbia.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service in Columbia and other times at the home of her daughter, 547 Taylor Beach Road, Columbia.

Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service Columbia.
