Jennette Waits English
November 3, 1952 – August 10, 2022

Jennette Waits English (Jakey), 69, of Manteo, died on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at her home with friends and family at her side.

Jakey as she was called, was born in Tampa, FL on November 3, 1952, to the late Joseph Alexander and Millicent Jennette Waits. She graduated from the University of North Carolina and was an avid Tarheel fan. She worked at Sam and Omie's Restaurant in Nags Head for thirty years with her sister Judy, and many dear friends. Jakey had a love for offshore fishing.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, August 15, 2022, at the St. George's Episcopal Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Ann Dale.

Jennette is survived by her sister, Judy Waits of Manteo, and a brother, William "Bill" Waits of Engelhard; a niece, Bonnie Jo Waits; a great-niece Stormy Madison Heroux; and two great-great nephews Wyatt Cooper and Gauge Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Bonnie Jo Waits.

The family is grateful to many friends who helped during this time.
