JOHN DANA OUTTEN
May 27, 1958 – June 19, 2016

John Dana Outten, 58, of 1997 Albemarle Beach Road, Roper, died Sunday, June 19, 2016, at his home.

Born in Plymouth, NC, May 27, 1958, he was the son of Carol O'Connor Outten and the late John Winston Outten. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Rich Outten.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are his daughter, Catherine Rich Outten Olivo and husband, David Andrew Olivo of Washington DC; his son John Preston Outten of Raleigh, NC; grandson Charles Dana Outten Olivo; two brothers, Jeffrey Alan Outten and wife, Fennette of Hot Springs, AR, and Robert Latham Outten and wife, Connie of Southern Shores, NC; and a sister-in-law, Angela Rich Mallette of Greenville, NC.

Dana earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He enjoyed an over 30 year career at Womble's Drug Store. In 2007, he became co-owner and manager of Columbia Pharmacy. Throughout his life, he was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church where he served as Treasurer, Vestry Member and Senior Warden.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 11:00 am. The Rev. William E. Smyth and The Rev. David Umphlett will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the church graveyard.

The family will visit with friends in the Parish House following the committal service on Friday and other times at their home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Episcopal Church, 106 Madison Street, Plymouth, NC 27962 are appreciated.
