JOHN W. SHERIFF, III
February 13, 1964 – June 9, 2016

John Waters Sheriff III, 52, of 245 Etheridge Road, Columbia, died on June 9, 2016 as a result of a boating accident in Tyrrell County, N. C

Born in Onondaga County, NY, he was the son of the late John Waters Sheriff and Mary Jane Sheriff. He was married to the former Lora Lee Rinehart who survives. John was the former owner of his own commercial construction company, ZBA Commercial Construction, in Virginia. He later lived in Pennsylvania and moved to Tyrrell County in December, 2015 where he was engaged in construction.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the water's edge at the end of Etheridge Road. Steve Bryan will lead the service.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Brittny Sheriff and fiancé, Michael Tennant of Sidney, OH, Ashley Sheriff and boyfriend, Jaryd Steinbacher of Dayton, OH; Son, Zachary Vanauken and fiance' Amy Lynn of Summertown Tennessee, a step-son Cody Rinehart husband of Ashley Rinehart of Penfield, PA and Dillon Leigey of Clearfield, PA; a step-daughter, Katie Wagner of Lamar, PA; a "special son", Mark Tennant of Sidney, OH; a brother, Allan Sheriff and wife, Bobbi Jo of Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Kathy Gleason and husband Wayne Gleason of Elbridge, NY; six grandchildren, Daisey Mae Vanauken, Jamisen Rinehart, Grayson Rinehart, Lola Rae McCloskey, Bailee Rayne Mandell and Layton Mandell.

Mr. Sheriff was also preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Reed Sheriff.
