J.W. Smith, Sr.

Joseph Warren "J.W." Smith, Sr., 86, of Greenville, died, Friday, October 4, 2019, at Martin General Hospital, Williamston.

Born in Pitt County, February 12, 1933, he was the son of the late William Leslie and Laura Everett Smith.

During the early 1950s, J.W. relocated from Bethel, NC to Columbia, NC where he was the owner and operator of Smith Motor Sales in Columbia and later returned to Pitt County to establish J.W. Enterprises in Greenville, NC.

Surviving are three sons; Joseph W. "Joey" Smith, Jr. and wife Cathy of Columbia, David R. Smith and wife Lisa and Mark Smith and wife Melinda both of Greenville; four grandchildren, Kyle, David, Jr., Christopher, and Kelci; several nieces and nephews.

Per his request, no services are planned at this time.
