LINDA S. HOLDER
November 13, 1942 – February 7, 2017

Linda Rae Swain Holder, 74, of 823 Jerry Post Office Road, Columbia, died at her home on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Born in Tyrrell County, November 13, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Dudley and Wilma Morris Swain.She was a graduate of Harrell's Hair Design Institute in Washington, N. C. in the early 1960's and practiced afterwards in Columbia. She was a retired food server in the hospitality industry and had worked at several area restaurants including the former Mike's Kitchen in Columbia, Copper Kettle and Cool Spring Café in Creswell and the Dram Tree in Edenton. She loved her customers and was known as a great food server. In later years, she loved going out to breakfast with her Breakfast Ladies in Columbia. She was a member of the Soundside Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Soundside Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Timothy Hayes will officiate. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are a son, Ben Green and wife, Field of Blackstone, VA; a daughter, Jennifer Chasse of Columbia; grandchildren, Siobhan Reynolds, Walker Green, Schuyler Green and Megan McConville.

Ms. Holder was also preceded in death by a brother, Terry Swain.

The family will receive friends during the hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church beginning at 1:30 p.m.
