Lynda K. Combs
August 5, 1935 – February 20, 2023

Lynda Knight Combs, of Columbia, North Carolina, passed away on February 20, 2023.

Born in Columbia, North Carolina, on August 5, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Robert (Bob) S. and Ruth Norman Knight.  She was married to Dennis Guy Combs who preceded her in death.  Lynda lived most of her 87 years in Columbia, North Carolina.

Lynda was a 1953 graduate of Columbia High School. She attended Meredith College. Most of her career was devoted to the Tyrrell County North Carolina Department of Social Services.

Lynda was a member of the Columbia Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on many church committees over time, and was active in the Southern Albemarle Association. She was also an avid bridge player and participated in numerous local bridge clubs.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023, at the Columbia Missionary Baptist Church, 710 Bridge St., Columbia, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow in the family plot at Azalea Memorial Gardens.

Lynda was preceded in death by her two brothers Norman and James "Jimmy" Knight and her sister Mary Lou Knight Pledger.

Lynda is survived by many nieces and nephews.
