Mattie M. Berry
October 2, 1928 – November 5, 2020

Mattie Estelle Midgett Berry, 92, formerly of Engelhard, died, Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Red Oak Assisted Living, Greenville.

Mattie was born in Beaufort County on October 2, 1928, to the late Daniel Toppin and Mary Elizabeth Overton Midgett. She was married to Earl Jackson Berry who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Engelhard Baptist Church, the former Extension Homemaker Club, and loved to volunteer at Cross Creek Health Care Center.

A private memorial service will be held at the family plot in Fulford Cemetery.

Surviving is a daughter, Martha B. Harris, and husband Frederick of Winterville; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two sisters, Mildred Chrismon and Melba Ambrose.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two daughters, Phyllis C. Hagwood and Barbara K. Berry; a stepson, Bradley Berry; four brothers, William E. Midgett, Robert D. Midgett, and Gene A. Midgett, Franklin Rudolph; four sisters, Doris M. Clayton, Mary A. Robinson, Jackie Williams, and Nancy Brickhouse.
