Melissa A. Sawyer

Melissa Ann Sawyer,39, of Hertford, died, Friday November 25, 2016 at Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

Born in Belhaven, October 20, 1977, she was the daughter of Barbara Cahoon Coleman and the late Michael Steven Sawyer.

Melissa was a care free happy go lucky person, who always had a smile. She had a passion for animals and she was loved by many especially by her mother.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday November 27, 2016 at Sandy Acres Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Roger Peaden will officiate. Burial will be held at the Roanoke Island Memorial Park in Manteo.

Surviving is her mother Barbara Cahoon Coleman and husband Dave of Hertford; a brother, Michael Sawyer, Jr. of Creswell; a niece, Mallory Sawyer of Edenton; paternal grandmother, Marion Hope Dough and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Nellie Mae Cahoon and Madison Cahoon and paternal grandfather, Emerson Sawyer.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia.
