Roger E. Gibbs
February 19, 1936 – May 12, 2023

Roger Elliott Gibbs, 87 of Engelhard, NC passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12th, 2023, at Citadel Nursing Home in Elizabeth City, NC.

Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Deal Gibbs, and father, Clay Webster Gibbs of Engelhard, NC.

He is survived by three sisters, Susie Gibbs Boardwine, and husband Robert (Bob) Boardwine of Belhaven, NC, Agnes Gibbs Carawan and husband Dexter Carawan of Scranton, NC, Betty Gibbs Riddle of Dunn, NC, and several nieces and nephews.

Roger was born on February 19th, 1936, and grew up in Engelhard where he graduated from East Hyde High School in 1955.  He was a proud farmer and built his life around maintaining farmland and livestock.

He was an active member for many years of the Hyde County Rotary Club, where he served as a Past President.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18th at Bryan Funeral Service in Swan Quarter, NC.

A private burial will follow at the homestead graveyard in Engelhard, NC with Pastor Mike Caton of Mt. Olive Church of Christ, Ponzer Community.
