Scott H. James
February 18, 1944 – July 10, 2017

Scott Howard James, 73, of Plymouth, died, Monday July 10, 2017 at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro.

Born in Pasquotank County, February 18, 1944, he was the son of the late Selvie Harley and Hasseltine Sawyer James. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Weeksville and attended Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Plymouth. He was married to the former Ruth Askew who survives.

He spent most of his working years building his potato and grain farm operation and despite his success he remained an humble man, later trucking became his new found passion.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Al Markuson will officiate.

In addition to his wife surviving are three sons; Scott A. James and wife Debbie of Creswell, Jason H. James and wife Blair of Nags Head and Stacey R. Johnston and wife Stephanie of Plymouth; seven grandchildren, Ashley James, Carly James, Harley James, Spencer James, Gill James, Sierra Johnston and Savana Johnston; two brothers, Roy James and wife Joyce of Columbia and Selvie K. James of Creswell.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Carlton James and a sister, Ann J. Proctor.
