VERGIE W. JONES
June 22, 1932 – September 8, 2017

Vergie Lois Williams Jones, 85, of 3703 Camp Leach Road, Washington, died early Friday, September 8, 2017, at her home after a long illness.

Born in Tyrrell County, June 22, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Romulus and Marie Spencer Willams. She worked for many years in food service and was a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. Steven Mills will officiate. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery across the road from the church.

Surviving are a son, Benjie Gibbs, Jr. and wife, Cammeron of Fairfield; four daughters, Teresa G. Hewitt and husband, John of Elizabeth City, Blondie G. Marslender and husband, Carlton of Washington, Marie G. Meekins and husband H. L. of Washington and Betty G. Cherry of Washington; a sister, Vera Kaye Blanford of Washington; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jones was also preceded in death by a daughter, Clara Faye G. Lane; a sister, Dessie W. Sanderson and a brother Dorrie Williams.

The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall during the hour prior to the funeral on Sunday and at other times at her daughter's home, 3713 Camp Leach Road.

Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter.
