Viola "Vi" J. Crowder
July 9, 1949 – April 30, 2021

Viola Johnson Crowder,71, of Columbia, died Friday, April 30, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving husband and son.

Vi was born in Tyrrell County on July 9, 1949, to the late Ralph Bryan and Esther Mae Davis Johnson. She was married to Michael "Mike" Crowder, who survives.

For thirty-six years, Vi worked as a teacher and media coordinator with the North Carolina Public School System. She loved teaching children, researching family history, shag dancing, and listening to beach music.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 8, 2021, at the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery. Vicky Woolard will officiate.

In addition to her husband surviving is a son Warren Crowder of Columbia.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
