Alice Ann (Gibbs) Armstrong

Alice Ann Gibbs Armstrong, 76, of Fairfield, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at her home.
Alice Ann was born in Tyrrell County on April 23, 1949, to the late Edgar and Alma Gertrude Gibbs. She married James “Jimmy” Armstrong, who preceded her in death.
Alice Ann was a devoted Christian. She was a member of the former Order of the Eastern Star #213 Hyde Chapter, #247 Fairfield Chapter, #81 Columbia Chapter, and, most recently, a member of #44 Elizabeth City Order of the Eastern Star Chapter. She served as a Hyde County commissioner and spent many years making crab pots. She was a beloved cook for her family and the community. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Farfield Cemetery, officiated by Billy Ray Askew.
The family will receive friends at the home place and immediately following the service.
She is survived by her three sons, James Armstrong, Jr. of Fairfield, Michael Armstrong and wife Judy of Fairfield, and Paul Harvey Gibbs and wife Kim of Engelhard, her grandchildren, April Peterson, Josh Gibbs (Jessica) of Gum Neck, and Danielle Gibbs, great-grandchildren, Garrett Guthrie, Logan Guthrie, Annabell Guthrie, Jaxsen Gibbs, Dixie Peterson, Remington Peterson, Mia Peterson, Jase Gibbs, and Jrake Gibbs, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Vernon Gibbs and Eugene Tooley Gibbs, and a sister, Mary Joyce Gibbs.
