Barbara D. Owens
February 12, 1936 – April 23, 2019

Barbara Davis Owens, 83, of  Columbia died, Tuesday April 23, 2019 at UNC Lenoir Health Care.

Born in Tyrrell County, February 12, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Lillian Sawyer Davis. She was married to Raymond Edward Owens who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Barbara was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, where she served as pianist and Sunday School Teacher.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Bryan Funeral Service Columbia Chapel. Steve Bryan will officiate. Burial will follow at the family plot in Azalea Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are two sons; Raymond Owens, Jr, Charlton Wesley “Chuck” Owens of Columbia; two daughters, Gloria Hope Owens of Kinston and Kimberly Sue Owens of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Kelli Owens, Mandy Owens, Jessie Owens, Holly Humphlett, Brandy Sawyer, Heaven Owens and Austin Owens; five great-grandchildren, Lila Owens, Alana Sawyer, Ethan Sawyer, Hannah Sawyer and Caleb Myer, and two sisters, Teresa Barnes and husband, Gordon of Greenville and Peggy Perry and husband, J.A. of Chesapeake, VA.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Swain.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday evening at the funeral home.
