Ben Herman, Jr.
July 18, 1932 – October 18, 2022

Ben Herman, Jr., 90, of Fairfield, died, on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at his home.

Born in Pettit, Mississippi, on July 18, 1932, Ben was the son of the late Ben and Era Ina Mosley Herman. Ben grew up in Alabama, and moved to Tarboro, NC where he met Patricia Baum and the two were married for over 65 years. 

After high school, Ben honorably served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and upon his service completion, he returned home where he began a long working career as a supervisor with the former Carolina Telephone Company. After retirement, he and Patricia moved to Fairfield, NC, where they resided for 20 years. 

Ben was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports of all kinds. He was a member of Fairfield Methodist Church. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Kendall B. Herman of Fairfield; daughter, Tina H. Page of Ayden (m. Dawson); three grandchildren, Joshua Page (m. Melissa), Morgan Page, and Michael Page (m. Felicia); two great-grandchildren, Joshua Page, Jr. and Sophia Page; brother Jim Herman (m. Joyce) of Louisiana and sister Dot Coker of Rocky Mount.

He was preceded in death by son, Thomas A. (Tony) Herman, and sisters Louise H. Najor, Elouise H. Davis, and Nell H. Kelso.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Fairfield Methodist Church. A private burial will be held in the Fairfield Cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
