Garland “Bud” Midgett
December 27, 1950 – January 10, 2020

Bud Midgett, 69, died Friday, January 10, 2020, at Waterbrooke of Elizabeth City. 

Bud was born in Columbia, NC on December 27, 1950, to the late Robert E. and Ina Basnight Midgett. 

Prior to his retirement, Bud worked 43 years as a barber.  Many of those years were spent working on the campus of Duke University.  Bud loved the outdoors and traveling.  He also loved to “ride out” with his aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Loretta Midgett Furlough.  Surviving are his two nephews, Chris Furlough and wife, Dawn Marie, and children Meriel and Isaac of St. Charles, Missouri and Michael Furlough and wife, Jennifer, and children Kyle, Allison, Amie, and Madison of Hondo, Texas and two nieces, Stacey Shaffer and husband, Drew, and daughter Lily of Priceville, Alabama and Tracey Cullison and husband, Zack, and children Jordan and Caroline of Athens, Alabama.  Surviving are also several cousins who loved him dearly. 

A service will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Albemarle Church of Christ in Columbia, NC.
