February 16, 1933 – November 4, 2019

Carolyn Davis Burrus O’Neal, 86, of the New Holland community, died, Monday, November 4, 2019 at Cross Creek Health Care Center, Swan Quarter.

Mrs. Carolyn was born in Dare County, February 16, 1933 to the late Robert Everett and Lula Mae Twiford Burrus. She was married to Sam Barber O’Neal who preceded her in death.

She enjoyed crocheting, landscaping and loved flowers and trees. She was most happy spending time with her grand children and great grandchildren and was a devoted reader of the word of God.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the family plot in Soule Cemetery. Pastor Jimmy Johnson will officiate.

Surviving is a daughter; Rosemary O. Johnson and husband William of the New Holland Community; a daughter in law, Myla O’Neal Gaskins of Ernul, NC; three grandchildren, Jeremy Farrow, Bryce O’Neal and Kelly O. Smith and husband Cade; three great grandchildren, Molly Anne O’Neal, Nolan Smith and Stella Smith; a brother Allen Burrus.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Sam B. O’Neal and Mark A. O’Neal; two brothers, Bobby Burrus, Johnny Burrus and an infant brother, Robert Everett and an infant sister, Willie Estelle Burrus.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
