Deborah A. Cooper, known as Debby, 68, of Columbia, passed away at her home on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Debby Cooper was born on May 24, 1957, in Hertford, Connecticut, to the late Lionel J. and Mary Anne Walker Armstrong. She was married to Bobby Cooper, Sr., who preceded her in death.

Debby spent her working years as a cake decorator for Food Lion and was known for how hard she worked and how much pride she took in her cake decorating. Her grandchildren looked forward to their birthdays, excited to see what cake she would make for them each year. She took great pride in her jewelry and putting together outfits that made her feel good about herself, even when she was just relaxing at home. Debby also had a special love for Harry Potter. She loved watching Harry Potter movies and collecting Harry Potter items. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her sense of style, and the love she had for her family.

She is survived by her son, B.J. Cooper and wife Rebecca of Elizabeth City, her daughter, Crystal Nguyen of Columbia, and step-son, Robbie Cooper of Virginia; grandchildren: Tristan Cooper, Carson Cooper, Kayla Nguyen, Chyna Horton, Kiara Horton, Laila Horton, Tiana Horton, and Gianna Ferebee; two brothers, Michael Armstrong (Lisa) of Columbia, and Bobby Armstrong (Debbie) of Columbia, her sister, Billie Armstrong of New Mexico, sister-in-law Kay Cammer of Columbia, Barbara Ann of Florida and Christie Cooper of Columbia, and brother-in-law, Tony Cooper (Debby) of Columbia.

She will forever be in our hearts and memories.

Her memorial service will be held at the home of her daughter, Crystal, on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, at 516 Soundside Rd, Columbia, NC 27925, from 3-6 pm. Anyone who wants to pay their respects can do so at that time.

Memorial contributions are welcome to assist the family with the purchase of a monument to be placed at her final resting place.
