Deborah “Debbie” Hodges Gibbs 69, of Engelhard, died, on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at ECU Medical Center, Greenville.

Debbie was born in Norfolk, VA, on October 11, 1953, to the late Marvin Elmo and Patty Joann Spring Hodges. She was married to Eugene Tooley Gibbs who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Engelhard Christian Church and the Engelhard Volunteer Fire Department.

Her favorite things to do were dancing, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, and teaching them how to cook. As well as her heated discussions with Gene Tooley.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Engelhard Christian Church. Pastor Andy Edge will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter Tammy Brooks immediately following the service.

Surviving are two daughters, Beverly “Genia” Roberts and Tammy G. Brooks both of Engelhard; two grandchildren, Tiffaney Weber and Brittney Weber; two great-grandchildren, SaRhia Barrow, and Cierra Anderson; three brothers, Jimmy Hodges of Nags Head, Johnny Hodges (Norma) of Engelhard, Jeff Hodges(Christine) of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Gayla S. Gibbs (Allen) of Engelhard, Beverly H. Gibbs of Engelhard; a sister in law, Barbara Hodges of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jackson Eugene Gibbs, a sister, Michelle Hodges Farmer; a brother, Marvin Dixon Hodges and three son-in-laws, Johnny Roberts, Jeffrey Weber, and Bobby Brooks.
