Dee Ann Tadich Douglass
February 14, 1947 – July 9, 2025
Dee Ann Tadich Douglass, 78, of Engelhard, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at her home.
Dee Ann Douglass was born in Fontana, CA on February 14, 1947, to the late Rado Lazarus and Glendeane "GiGi" Wentz Tadich. She married Archie Dominie, who preceded her in death. April 6, 2002 she married John Martin Douglass, who survives.
From her daughter Kathryn,
Momma Dee was not worried about sharing her eventful life in her obituary. She made the statement to "keep it simple." But she deserved all the bells and whistles as she was beyond amazing to so many her entire life. I was blessed to have her as my momma when she married my dad in 2002. Her story before that, I have heard a lot about. However, momma seemed to always want to focus on the present. She loved crafts, sewing, and anything Hawaiian, as she had spent many years there. She and dad moved to Engelhard, NC, from Washington State in March of 2022 so that Mark and I could care for them in their last years. Upon arriving in Hyde County, she immediately won the hearts of the Cutrell Family. After only a few days, Bradley asked them both on behalf of all the Cutrell kids, to be their grandparents. A role they both embraced with all their hearts. Landise & Crystal soon were called their children or grandchildren by Momma Dee, depending on if Landise was in trouble or not. She was soon named MomMom by Ziggy, and it stuck. MomMom adored her bonus family, and they adored her.
Momma Dee, as she was known to many, was a light into Hyde County for her only 3 years here in North Carolina.
She had no idea how many lives she touched. You see, she sowed love and prayers to each person in her path. And that in turn spread into Hyde County. Not one person, adult or child, left her presence without feeling the love that God has given her so freely when He gave His son life for our sins. Momma was spicy and said it like it was. In the last year, she may not have been able to get your name right, but have no doubt she would be praying for you the minute you left the room.
Momma's prayer was for each one reading this to know.... "Jesus loves you. No matter what wrong choices you have made. God freely gave His son Jesus Christ to die on the cross. That our sins would be washed away and each one of us could start anew. God's love is the ultimate love."
Prayer of Salvation
"Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner and have broken Your laws. I understand that my sin has separated me from You. I am sorry, and I ask that You forgive me. I accept the fact that Your Son Jesus Christ died for me, was resurrected, and is alive today and hears my prayers. I now open my heart's doors and invite Jesus in to become my Lord and my Savior. I give Him control and ask that He would rule and reign in my heart so that his perfect will would be accomplished in my life.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen"
Walking with the Lord is not an easy path. Momma was the first one that would tell you that. But the blessing that can come from walking with Him is more than words can say.
One of her last requests was to say. "Ladies, where is your lipstick?" If you know, you know.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Swan Quarter Christian Church.
