Dennis Earl Byrd
May 9, 1972 – January 25, 2026

Dennis Byrd, 53, of Engelhard, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Dennis was born in Marion, South Carolin, on May 9, 1972.  He loved working on the water as a commercial fisherman, as well as fishing and boating for pleasure.  He was kind and enjoyed helping others however he could.  He will be missed deeply by his family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2026, at Fuflord Cemetery. The family will gather with friends immediately following the service.

He is survived by his parents, Benjamin and Shirley Jones Gibbs, a sister, Tonya Schurr (Thomas) of Clarksville, TN, five brothers:  George Byrd (Ginger) of Gull Rock, Stanley Byrd (Shannon) of Palm Coast, FL, Frankie Gibbs (Lori) of Ponzer, Joshua Gibbs (Tracy) of Engelhard, and Joseph Gibbs (Mia) of Grovetown, GA; fourteen nieces and nephews, three great nieces, three great nephews and a special great niece, Caroline Gibbs.

He was preceded in death by a brother Paul Byrd.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses to Bryan Funeral Service at 119 Main Street, Swan Quarter, NC  27885.
