Dexter Ralph Carawan
September 29, 1953 - December 7, 2024

Dexter Ralph Carawan, 71, of Scranton, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Autumnfield of Belhaven Assisted Living Facility.

Dexter was born in Beaufort County on September 29, 1953, to the late Ralph George and Frances Waters Carawan. He was married to the former Agnes Gibbs who preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Mt. Olive Church of Christ. He spent twenty-seven years working for the NC Department of Transportation. Dexter loved to be around people. He enjoyed visiting the beach, and go-kart racing; and liked to go to rodeos and bull riding.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Carawan Family Cemetery in Scranton, NC, with Mike Caton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

He is survived by two brothers, Mark D. Carawan and wife Pam of Scranton, and Joe Carawan and wife Donna of Chocowinity.
