Elaine Swindell Tooley

Elaine Swindell Tooley, 77, of 762 Lynnsburg Road, Scranton NC, passed at home on April 1, 2023.

Born on August 4, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey B. and Mabel Silverthorne Swindell. She was married to the late Roland O’Neal Tooley. She was a lifetime member of the Epworth Church of Sladesville.

Elaine was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. After graduating from West Swan Quarter High School, she married and worked on the family farm while raising her children and was very involved in the community. Elaine enjoyed working in her yard and spending time at Rivershore.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 4:00 pm at Epworth Church of Sladesville with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are her four children, R. Ray Tooley and wife Emily, Kristy T. Lawrence and husband Brad, Charles D. Tooley, and wife Lisa and Paula T. Spencer and husband Chad; eight grandchildren, Kasey T. Armstrong and husband KJ, Ryan G. Tooley, and wife Peyton, Eric B. Lawrence and wife Shanna, Samantha L. Lewis, and husband Brandon, Brandon C. Tooley, Brody D. Tooley, Ashley E. Spencer, and Bo H. Spencer; two great-grandchildren, Emma B. Lewis and Ella O. Lawrence and three more bundles of joy on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother C. Eric Swindell.

The family would like to thank Elaine’s caregivers and Amedisys Hospice Care for their tireless efforts and dedication.

Friends may visit with the family anytime or on Monday, April 3, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the home on 762 Lynnsburg Road Scranton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Epworth Church of Sladesville at 725 Lynnsburg Road Scranton, NC 27875.
