Frances L. (Ange) Lucas

Frances Louise Ange Lucas, passed away peacefully Monday, January 3, 2023, at her home in Cool Springs.  

Mrs. Lucas was born in Plymouth, North Carolina on September 18, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Dewey Casper Ange and Sara Frances Ange.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Oliver Lucas and a sister Marceline Andrews.

Mrs. Lucas retired from BB&T as a bank teller and customer service representative.  She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was active in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was involved in many other church functions as well.

 Frances, also known as Ma, had a passion for many things but the one that outshined the rest was her love for the Lord.  She worked hard and never expected recognition.  She loved to cook, laugh, and spend time with her family.  She was selfless and, most of all, she was faithful.  She never showed an ounce of fear because of her faith and hope that was ingrained in her soul.  May we all strive to be what she embodied.

She leaves her memory to be cherished by her two sons, William Franklin Lucas (Sherlyn) of Plymouth, NC, Bradley Nelson Lucas of Winterville, NC; four grandchildren, Amanda Lucas Lipscomb (Brian), Holly Lucas Eubanks (David), Patrick Nelson Lucas; step-granddaughter, Patricia Wilson Thornburg (Joe); 3 great-grandchildren, Lucas Christian Eubanks, Dylan Scott Lipscomb, Austin Drake Lipscomb; 2 step-great-grandchildren Cynthia Dare Thornburg, Joseph Andrew Thornburg Jr.

The Lucas family expresses great appreciation for the devotion and love extended to Frances by loving caregivers and Community Hospice.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
