Gayla Sue Gibbs
July 21, 1951 – December 18, 2025

Gayla Sue Spring Gibbs, 74, of Engelhard, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at her home.

Gayla Sue was born in Grafton County, West Virginia, on July 21, 1951, and raised by her parents, the late Marvin and Patty Spring Hodges.  She married Allen Edwin Gibbs, who survives.

She loved taking care of her home, her family, and working around people. Such as when she worked at Big Trout Marina and the Hyde County Senior Center. Spending time with family and friends was amongst her favorite things to do.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Tony Gibbs, Richard Blanks (Marie), David Kirk Gibbs (Jamie) all of Engelhard, Eddie Allen Gibbs (Tammy) of Delaware and Chase Gibbs (Ashton) of the Ponzer Community; eight grandchildren, Kris Gibbs, Tyler Gibbs (Bayleecia), Cheyenne Gibbs, Bryson Gibbs, Victoria Gibbs, Oliver Gibbs, Brianna Gibbs and Anna Gibbs; one sister, Beverly Gibbs and three brothers, Jimmy Hodges of Collington, Jeff Hodges of Charlotte, NC and Johnny Hodges of Engelhard.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kenney Blanks, a brother, Marvin “Dickie” Hodges, Jr., and two sisters, Michelle Farmer and Debbie Gibbs.

Friends can visit with the family at the home place on 120 Roper Lane, Engelhard.
